Salary Range: $3,492 - $3,806 per month + comprehensive benefits
Position Summary: The Payroll Assistant is responsible for managing the Student Employment Program and managing the pay of approximately 600-700 current student employees. The position reviews eligibility for employment, oversees monthly student employee payroll, manages the Payroll archives, manages the set up and use of the Federal Work Study program, and manages the Payroll customer support center. Departmental Information: The office of Payroll Services offers support to Oregon Tech Employees and Students regarding pay information such as earnings statements, pay stubs, leave balances, tax forms, and more.
Qualification Requirements, Per Classification: Two years of experience as an administrative specialist or executive support specialist which included administrative support for a project, program, or operation. Administrative support includes those duties beyond clerical/secretarial such as: interpretation of laws, rules, and regulations; administrative data collection and analysis; and evaluation of projects, processes, and operations; OR an equivalent combination of training and experience. One year of post-secondary education may be substituted for up to one year of the experience.
Additional Requirements: Ability to effectively and respectfully work, communicate, and collaborate in diverse, multicultural, and inclusive settings. Ability to work effectively in high-traffic and frequent interruption environment; including the ability to adapt to changing priorities in an effective and efficient manner. Demonstrated experience interpreting and applying laws, rules, policies, and procedures in an Office or equivalent setting. Demonstrated experience in the handling of sensitive and/or confidential information. Demonstrated effective interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills Proficiency in use of Microsoft Office programs including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint, as well as databases and specialized programs.
Preferred Qualifications: Knowledge of Oregon and Federal Labor wage and hour laws. Experience working in an institution of higher education and/or public sector Experience with Banner HRIS
