Location: Klamath Falls, OR
Salary: $2,702 - $2,897 per month
Job Description: Housing and Residence Life seeks applications for a Trades Maintenance Worker. The purpose of this position is to provide for effective upkeep, maintenance, and cleanliness for a safe and enjoyable operation of the residential facilities on the Klamath Falls campus. The employee will have daily contact with students, staff, and the public. The employee works closely with the Trades/Maintenance Coordinator to ensure maintenance needs are met as well as assisting the team to meet high cleaning standards and provide excellent customer service to residents, staff, and guests. This position works Monday through Friday 7:00 am to 4:00 pm. A willingness to perform prolonged physical labor, walk, bend, stoop, life and climb in performance of duties. Also requires a willingness to work with caustic cleaning agents, and to work in an environment containing dust and odors, and bio-hazardous materials (blood, excrement, etc.). This position involves assisting with daily maintenance issues and maintenance related projects as well as custodial duties. This position supports the operation of housing on campus. Housing and Residence Life facilities and programs are designed to enhance and support the institutional mission. Housing and Residence Life’s mission includes providing a reasonably priced living environment that is clean, attractive, and well maintained. Department Information: Housing and Residence Life is a growing and fast paced department. We serve up to 700 students each academic year, to help them learn, grow, and thrive at Oregon Tech and in their residential community. The department is home to a vibrant First Year Experience (FYE) community, housed in the Residence Hall. In addition to this community, the Residence Hall and Village apartments are home to first year to graduate students who enjoy the proximity of being close to classes, academic, and support resources by living on campus. Classification Requirements: Experience with basic plumbing such as renewing washers and valves, cleaning and opening drains and other water lines, etc. Experience with basic carpentry such as installing shelves, doors, handrails; preparing building materials; basic carpentry repairs, etc. Experience with basic electrical repairs/maintenance such as replacing light bulbs, checking circuit breakers, etc. Experience with basic interior and exterior painting in residential and commercial facilities. Experience using power tools such as drills, saws, carpet machines, buffing machines, snow blower, etc. Experience using personal protective equipment, SDS sheets, and established safety procedures.
Additional Requirements: Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull 50 pounds Experience working with people of diverse backgrounds Experience providing excellent customer service Basic computer skills/knowledge of Microsoft Outlook and internet usage Ability to pass background check and drug screening Possession of a valid driver’s license with ability to drive in Oregon Preferred Qualifications: Experience with college students in a residential setting Experience performing routine equipment repair and maintenance Experience performing various aspects of custodial work including vacuuming, cleaning facilities, and trash/recycling removal Special Instructions to Applicant: Initial review of applications will begin on January 30, 2023.
