General description: The Assistant Controller will be responsible for cash management, fixed asset management, and Payroll. General accounting duties may occasionally assigned. Work, is performed under the general supervision of the Controller.
Essential job functions:
Accounting Duties:
· Cash Management including: primary bank liaison, initiation of account and wire transfers, recording of cash management transactions into the accounting records, investments, and bank reconciliations.
· General Ledger account analysis and reconciliation.
· Perform Tenant Revenue Audits.
· Assist with month end close.
· Fixed Asset accounting and annual inventory.
· Prepare various monthly reports.
· Assist with annual budget preparation.
· Assist with annual audit preparation.
· Assist Controller and CFO with various special projects.
· Assist with annual general insurance renewal.
Payroll Duties:
· Review and validation of employee time records.
· Bi-weekly payroll processing: including, review and validation of employee time records, input of data into accounting system, ACH file submission, generation of payroll checks and maintenance of salary and PTO records.
· Preparation and filing of all required monthly, quarterly and annual payroll related reports for federal and state agencies.
· Quarterly reconciliation of 941 reports to the general ledger.
Knowledge, Abilities and Skills: This position requires the following:
· Knowledge of cash management, budgeting and government accounting principles and practices, and the ability to apply such knowledge to everyday accounting issues.
· Strong analytical skills and proficiency in Excel and word.
· Ability to make decisions with minimum supervision.
· Ability to generate thorough and accurate documents and use sound professional judgment.
· Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
· Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
Education and Experience
· Bachelor's Degree in Accounting required
· Two to three years of accounting or auditing experience
· Microsoft Dynamics GP experience a plus
